Philosophy
My vision for this program is one that is rooted in the traditions of Montessori education which empowers children to joyfully and independently develop while following their interests, but also inspired by the infinite potential for learning in nature.
Casa Luminosa is an in-home Montessori preschool that also has Forest School once a week. Our small group allows children to learn at their own pace in a warm and caring environment.
About Us
Our guide, Carmen is a trained Montessori guide with her diploma from the Association Montessori Internationale for children ages 2.5-6 years old. She has more than five years of experience leading a Montessori class. She also has the perspective of a parent of young children with twin daughters who are almost 3.
She also has training from Tinkergarten and Free Forest School.
Schedule
Our school meets from 8 am-noon during the mornings Monday-Friday, with Mondays as Forest School days and the others in Carmen's home. Instead of an adult-directed schedule, children follow their interests and developmental drive to choose work, as well as when to eat or get a drink of water, with guidance from an adult when needed.
Next year, we will begin offering full days!
